It's that time of the year now for some of us, in which the mornings lend to warmer breakfasts and the evenings call for autumnal desserts. The warming taste of cinnamon and in-season fresh apples are extra delicious and offer a healthy yet sweet option for both these meals.
This apple crumble was inspired by my father who made this with his one functional arm and it therefore had to be dead easy. We had limited ingredients in the kitchen and mustered up a delicious concoction!
2 cups of rolled oats
4 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground vanilla
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/4 tsp ground gloves
1 tbs ghee/butter (optional)
1/4 cup milk
3-4 tbs honey
8 x 5 inch loaf pan, greased
Mix dry ingredients of oats and spices in glass bowl.
Add (butter - optional), milk and egg to the dry ingredient mix.
Evenly spread the apple slices in a butter-greased glass loaf pan.
Evenly spread the oat mixture on top of the apples.
Drizzle the honey over the oats, letting it seep through.
Bake at 400˚ F for 30 minutes, enjoying the aromas filling your kitchen! Let cool, serve or keep for breakfast the next day:)
